Great reviews for Musterion "The Wondrous Journey Through the Catabombs of Life"
THURSDAY, APRIL 14, 2010

The second installment of solo project Musterion has been given really good reviews in the media. Here's a couple of qoutes:

"Swedish-born composer Simon Kölle has been touted as one of the most significant Scandinavian musicians of his generation and genre... Reminds me of masters such as Devil Doll, Pink Floyd, David Lynch and Lovecraft. The music is so unique and cinematic I nominate it to be the best dark ambient album this year [2010] for sure... I love this album." 5/5 stars - Ivan Racheck @ Chaindlk.com

"Simon Kölle, having a background in theatre and music, is well placed to further explore the demonic shades of the subconscious through his compositions... 'The Wondrous Journey...' succeeds because it places a fresh nuance on the genre, and is capable of continually challenging as well as engaging the listener within ever encroaching walls of insanity." Michael Cunninghamn @ Judas Kiss and Compulsion

"Simon takes his music to new levels of sophistication and refinement without compromising the allure and excitement of the sound. The entertainment factor rides high throughout this gem of a release." 5/5 - Alexander Garrett @ Row Magazine

"The music, ancient and esoteric is cinematic and arcane which contains mostly organic and electro acoustic instruments. The compositions are complex and obscure. Fluently the music takes you on this psychedelic trip with care and precision." Remco @ Gothtronic

Nice reception of the Res dej inte! (Stay Down) soundtrack
MONDAY, APRIL 13, 2010

The soundtrack to the film "Res dej inte!" (Stay down) as been given a very good reception by the media.
Here's a couple of qoutes:

"In summation, the soundtrack for 'Res Dej Inte!' is a masterful piece of work. Surely ranking as one of Kölle's best. A marriage of styles and inspirations between director and composer seems to have given both works (visual and musical) the impetus to create an astounding document on the alpha and omega of violence. There is only darkness between each falling fist and rising blade, 'Res Dej Inte!' confronts this darkness and forces its naked face towards our own hiding places. An important piece of cinema bolstered by a soundtrack that asks nothing of its peers, yet has much to say." Michael Cunninghamn @ Judas Kiss and Compulsion

"A grim, rather violent film concerning three gangs of youths. Musically this is certainly no standard soundtrack with lot's of strings and pianos or a collection hit songs. It is more in the neighborhood of the bizarre compositions of Angelo Bandalamenti's Twin Peaks, but much more cold and minimalistic." Tim @ Mindview

"The score stands up with the best Hollywood has offered the last month's and I sincerely hope Kölle follows the trail blazed by Richard Jarnhed and they embark on a road to the mainstream... Overall, this is an excellent score and if you've loved the music to films like Alien and The Omen you will definitely love this one as well. But you also here hints of the music of John Carpenter and Michael Suby." 5/5 stars - Ivan Racheck @ Chaindlk.com

"This is a soundtrack for those who like dark ambient music and uncanny sounds. This is a great soundtrack to a most promising film." Remco @ Gothtronic

"Kölle's work is absolutely first class, mixing ethnic elements with modern and ambient, traditional and somewhat (but not so much) classical, which all pays honorable homage to its visual accompaniment. The last thing mentioned is what Simon really has a grip on, namely hitting the right spot at the right time... It's deliberating to hear a soundtrack not sounding Hollywood with string sections and crisp orchestrations. The music is rather dirty and dark in a good suiting way. Another great thing which stands out is a series of elaborate and expressive musical phrases, each conjuring up a different facet to the story." 9/10 - Alexander Garett @ Row Magazine

"Strident, tense atmosphere, dreary plains, mixing techniques which create a rhythmic pulse or sweep. More and more you get closer to the coldness of Popol Vuh's Nosferatu soundtrack, the more you do it you touch the goal. Death - or rather the scare of dying." Bil @ A Report on the next clues

"Res dej inte! (OST) is a very interesting and far from negligible album"
Roberto G @ Mentenebre
